#FamilyTree365 – Day 21 September 21, 2016

I am still a day behind – post is backdated.

So the last person in this stream of themed posts is Rabbi Nachman Krochmal.  Nachman Krochmal as far as I know at this time is not connected to my Krochmal ancestors, however there is family rumor that we are connected so here we go…

Rabbi Nachman Krochmal was born in 1785 in the town of Brody to Shalom/Solomon Krochmal.  He was married to Sarah Habermann, the daughter of Shemarya Habermann from the town of Zolkiew.  From what I have been able to find he had somewhere between 4 and 6 children.  The six that I have listed are Kunigunde, Joseph, Aaron, Abraham, Reise and Rosalie.  Some sources have stated he only had four children so two names could go along with two others as second names.  Joseph was a General in the Russian army.  Abraham at some point moved to Frankfurt, Germany and had a daughter Anna.  Kunigunde married Nathan Horowitz from Zolkiew and was from the Horowitz Rabbinical dynasty.  I know Kunigunde died in Tarnopol and I may have traced some of her descendants at least as far as the 1880’s.  The last child I have been able to find anything on is Rosalie.  Rosalie married a man named Heinrich Biegeleisen.  Supposedly at some point their family converted.  I at one point did find and was in contact with a living descendant but we lost contact.  I may however try again, especially now that FamilyTreeDNA is the DNA site for Jewish Genetic Genealogy (at least in my opinion).
